On the heels of A.M.R’s celebrated debut album, “A Place For Everything,” it is our privilege to present Cressida’s fresh take on the lead single, “Sailor’s Cry.” German legend Cressida requires no introduction to veteran trance & progressive fans, as he has contributed such genre classics as “6am” and “Summit” through the years, not to mention his mesmerizing works under the “Callisto” guise, which greatly influenced the musical direction of our label.
The winner of our “Sailor’s Cry” remix contest, which generated over 150 submissions, Cressida officially makes his label debut with a stirring new interpretation of “Sailor’s Cry.” Drawing inspiration from the deeper side of the progressive breaks genre, the veteran sensation begins his take with a series of heavily filtered, fluttering beats, as gorgeous string motifs swell with heartrending emotional resonance. The main vocal theme suddenly appears and immediately evokes the titular sailor still lost at sea, a metaphor for his own emotional turmoil and regret. A short respite midway through the arrangement offers an especially meditative moment, as the distant cries of seagulls reinforce the melancholia that has overtaken our protagonist. Suddenly, the main broken-beat groove re-enters the arrangement, this time buttressed by a powerful new bass layer. The ensuing wave of sound once again conjures the image of our weathered seafarer, now steering his ship through the turbulent waters of his soul and successfully vanquishing his emotional demons.
